Despite the fact that this area can't make up its mind whether it is a beach or a city, you could look at this shot and forget that you were right next door to the capital of Majorca.
The sand is soft and silver, the sea is gorgeous. You can watch the ferries and merchant ships make their way across the bay to Palma, or the aeroplanes bring in the next batch of lucky holiday-makers. (Although we were there in late season, there were plenty of flights: none of which were loud enough to spoil our day).
Behind you, in the town we counted numerous outlets for your favourite fast food: burgers, chicken and pizza, as well as some of the best High Street clothes shops.
