Guide and Virtual Tour of Majorca: Plaza de la Constitucion, Soller.
Panorama | Review | Map

The main square in Soller (Plaza de la constituci—n, S—ller) is dominated by the Church of San Bartolome, which dates from the 16th Century. The Church is flanked on the left by the 'Bank of Soller', which when we visited in 2011 was the 'Bank of Santander' - foreign exchange desk shuts at 12 noon!
The square is a very popular meeting place for locals and tourists alike. There are cafes and restaurants on three sides, and the tram to Port de Soller runs right along one side towards the terminus just to the right of the Church outside the Rail Station, where you can take the train to Palma Town.
Soller is great for a visit on foot, many of the narrow streets are impassable to vehicles so strolling is a pleasure, with plenty of shops and sights to see.
We visited the free gallery inside the Train Station, which boasts a collection of Mir— paintings and ceramics by Picasso! - more art can be viewed at the Ca'n Prunera modernist art gallery (on the Carrer de sa Luna - 'Moon Street'!)- which is a fantastic building with beautiful interiors, so even if you are not taken with the works of such artists as Picasso, Mir—, Matisse, Basquiat, Rusi–ol, Magritte, Leger and Chillida, you may well be wowed by the building itself. (Closed Mondays, admission 5 Euro October 2011).
