Palma, the streets outside the Cathedral.
The city of Palma is well worth a visit during your stay in Mallorca. Over half the residents of Majorca live here, add to this the numbers of visitors and consequently the streets are busy and crowded.
Although it has its origin it Roman times, most of the city today, such as the tree lined avenue, 'La Rambla' originated from the 19th century.
The current ring road replaces the old city walls and the Passeig Maritim (promenade) used to be part of the sea until the 1950s
Palma does not have its own beach Ð the residents tend to use Ca'an Pastilla to the east or Cala Mayor to the west.
This shot was taken just outside the Cathedral and opposite the Palace of La Almudaina, which is guarded by two sentries.
