Palma's historic centre is really attractive: the cathedral is immense, boasting one of the largest rose windows in the world. Its huge high walls of warm, golden-brown stone impose their presence on the city landscape and over the harbour. Around the cathedral are quiet gardens and a large lake and arena, used for concerts and open air movies.
The cathedral is situated directly opposite the Palace of La Almudaina, guarded by two sentries.
