This beach is promoted as being an area of ecolgical interest, for its sand dunes habitat.
Cala Agulla is a huge, long, sandy beach in the north-east of the island, close to Cala Rajada. Parking was 3 Euros in autumn 2008, on a large fied, with shaded parking areas. The beach was extremely busy and VERY regimented. Everywhere there were opportunities to part with your money: to use the toilet, buy icecream at one of the3 identical, evenly spaced beach shacks, to hire a sunlounger, pedalo, canoe, etc. The beach was well patrolled with life guards, every 50 metres or so.
There is no doubt that this is a beautiful beach, in fantastic, natural environment... it just felt too organised.
