Magalluf, Magaluf.
Majorca, Spain, Balearic Islands |
Magalluf, Magaluf Magalluf and Palma Nova are definitely the places to go if you want to drink late, party late and wake late. These 2 resorts now merge seamlessly into one and cater unashamedly for the young, single, mainly British holiday-maker. They are lively in the extreme and have an abundance of entertainment and amusements. There are 2 water parks here, almost side by side, plus a huge choice of cocktail bars, night clubs, table dancing clubs and karaoke bars, none of which close before dawn. The night-life here is one of the main attractions, so if you are looking for peaceful, romantic evenings in a secluded restaurant, over looking a picturesque bay go somewhere else!
By day, the action continues. The beaches are clean and with golden sand, the water is crystal clear, but there is no chance of sleeping off that hangover, or saving a few Euros to take home. Of course not! You could be indulging in glass bottom boat trips, banana boats, parascending, catamaran "all-you-drink-for-free" trips and everywhere there are so many half clad beauties to socialise with. (One note of caution: it is illegal to drink alcohol on the beach or, indeed take any glass bottles onto them.)
There is a large number of fast food outlets, including the old favourites - Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Wimpy, Burger King, KFC etc. Many of the roads are pedestrianised, which is just as well if you have had one too many. What is the difference between Magalluf and Palma Nova? There isn't one these days, really. Palma Nova is the older of the two resorts and claims to appeal more to families, but it really is not the place for toddlers with buckets and spades. Perhaps there are a few more traditional restaurants and cafes in Palma Nova and not quite so many hotels. Otherwise, they are the same.
Your worst nightmare? Or your wildest dream? You decide.
