	Formentor views and beach Majorca, Spain, Balearic Islands Formentor views and beach The Formentor peninsular is the northern most point of the island and is a popular area for cyclists, walkers and bird watchers. The views from the Mirador des Colomer on this road are stunning. If you continue along these twisting roads to the lighthouse at the end of the peninsular, you may be able to see Menorca on a clear day. The beach at Formentor is beautiful with a long, sandy stretch, backed by trees for shade, with calm, turquoise water. The Hotel Formentor is one of the island's oldest. It opened in 1929 and pampered to the rich and famous, although now it is available to everyone. Many day trip boats visit this beach, so it can get rather busy during the day. There is a beach shop and one, large self service cafe, serving a predictable and very average menu of chips, pizzas and pasta.
